Not made for curvier figure, measurements not quite accurate

I love the dress, however the measurements aren't quite accurate and are a bit strangely proportioned. I am slightly curvier than the average (height 5'9, athletic/curvy on the bottom, ~160lbs) however the measurements suggested the L would be the perfect fit with some space to move. The inner lining and panel of the skirt is extremely tight to the point of being uncomfortable and very visibly tight. I'm taking it to a seamstress to see if anything can be let out so it fits, as it is a nice dress and style.
